Waldseemuller Map Bookmark
Taken from Exploring the Early Americas exhibit, this bookmark depicts a detail image from a section of one of the most historical documents created of early America. Dubbed "America's Birth Certificate," the Martin Waldseemuller's 1507 World Map is based on Amerigo Vespucci's voyages to 1501-1502 to the New World, and is the first map to depict the newly found American landmass. The Waldseemuller Map was created with original woodcut spanning across 12 sheets of paper, to create what you see in this extraordinary document. Made in the USA. 2" x 6.5"
