Harriet Tubman Bookmark
Harriet Tubman, pioneer activist, was one of the leaders of the antislavery crusade. She made 19 trips to South, led out some 300 slaves. She later played an active role in the Civil War, serving as Union nurse, scout, spy, commando leader. This photograph is estimated to date from the 1860s. Laminated; 6.5" x 2.25".
Image was jointly acquired by The Library of Congress and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in 2017.
