The Great Wave Bookmark
This is perhaps the single most famous of Hokusai's woodblocks or ukiyo-e prints. Ukiyo-e translates as “pictures of the Floating World” and is so called because its subjects depict the transitory world. The original art was produced primarily during the Edo period and Hokusai was a master.
Solid brass electro-plated with a gold finish. Approx. 3.25"l. x 1.25"w. (excluding tassle).
The Library's Asian Division collections contain hundreds of ukiyo-e prints by Hokusai.
